| The
Big Lottery- Reach Project
The Reach Project is a new initiative funded by the Big
Lottery Reaching Communities programme which builds on,
extends and enhances BAC-IN’s current work. It will
enable BAC-IN to develop its services and reach new beneficiaries
including new service users and their families in disadvantaged
communities. It will also benefit colleagues in partner
organisations who wish to develop their own ability to work
effectively with clients from Black and Minority communities
and improve the overall cultural competence of their services.
The
Reach Project will also help build self-confidence and help
individuals to access advice and information, counselling,
drug and alcohol treatment services, one-to-one and group
support, education and training as well as volunteering
and peer-mentoring opportunities.
The Reach project will enable BAC-IN to employ a team of
four new staff members including a Development Manager,
a Training Officer, Employment Opportunities Worker and
Family Support Worker.
Development
Manager
The Development Manager will be responsible for the development,
implementation and day to day delivery of the Reach Project.
The Development Manager will be responsible for the overall
management, support and supervision of the Reach Project
team, including the Family Support Worker, Training Worker
and Employment Opportunities Worker (EOW). In close liaison
with the Service Manager, the Development Manger will play
a lead role in the overall development of BAC-IN as an organization
including:
• Business planning
• Development and delivery of new services
• New partnerships
• Researching new opportunities including securing
funding.
Training
Officer
The Training Officer will work with the Development Manager
to develop and deliver cultural competence training courses
for service users and partner agencies including OCN accredited
training within Nottingham/shire. The Training Officer will
market and promote cultural competence training and support
to a range of organisations.
Employment
Opportunities Worker
The Employment Opportunities Worker will deliver a new Employment
Opportunities service that will enable BAC-IN service users
to access learning, training and volunteering opportunities;
gain accredited qualifications and move into employment.
This new role will work with BAC-IN clients in the City
of Nottingham and will focus on those from the most disadvantaged
communities. All BAC-IN clients are those recovering from
substance misuse and their families from Black and South
Asian communities and the majority are in the target wards
listed within the Economic Development priority.
Family
Support Worker
The Family Support Worker’s role will be to focus
on targeting new clients and their families with an emphasis
on women clients including women and children. BAC-IN has
a range of plans in place to encourage women and families
to engage with the service including new activities and
groups specifically for women, crèche provision and
skills training. The Family Support Worker will be responsible
for the development and delivery of these new services.
